Analyst programmers are individual contributors to the development, maintenance, and enhancement of business, providing specialised technical or business knowledge to project.

Those in this position are assigned to projects within an assigned business unit or corporation department and utilise various new computing architecture (e.g.client/server, Intranet, web) or mainframe platforms.
The main challenge for analyst programmers is identifying causes and implementing solutions to business problems in a multifunctional project, assessing and communicating issues of technology impact on the business.
Analyse, design and specify sections of the system.
Code, test, debug, correct, document and maintain program changes or new functionality in order to deliver reliable high quality technical solutions to meet the business requirements within the agreed time and effort.
Analyst Programmers are required to lead small teams of technicians in order to achieve a specific goal or goals which relate to project delivery and program change.
When on Standby, Analyst Programmers are expected to be available at all times.
Unless prior arrangements have been made, to analyse and resolve emergencies outside of normal business hours.
Analyst Programmers are expected to identify areas for improvement within the applications as well as to keep test applications in line with those of Production.


PLEASE NOTE: In filling this position, they will be guided by the need to meet their Employment Equity (including disabled persons) targets as outlined in the Financial Sector Charter.

• Matriculation without fulfilling University Entrance criteria.
• Relative IT Diploma or Degree.
• Van Zyl & Pritchard / Luso / ITUC programming qualification or formal computer programming course run by an accredited training institution.
• Successful completion of a Computer Science degree or formal computer-programming course run by an accredited training institution.
• At least 5 -7 years relevant experience.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and conceptual skills.
• Experience with structured design, development, and implementation of new computing architectures.
• Detail understanding and application of the Blue Process Solution Development Methodology Complete understanding of the relevant development and production environments.
• COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL,Easytrieve.
