This is a highly technical position that requires that the incumbent thoroughly understands a wide range of platform, as well as network and other integrating technologies.

The Client Server Solution Designer is responsible for determining the client server platform strategy and architecture for the Company and its subsidiaries.
Operates at a consultancy position providing guidance to the business and IT.
This individual is responsible for ensuring that the technical platform infrastructure will provide optimal manageability and security according to predefined patterns chosen for deployment.

Assume primary responsibility for providing client server platform architectures and solutions covering the enterprise platform topology, based on one or several predefined platform infrastructure requirements, including:.
•Work in accordance with the Enterprise Architecture group as regards conceptual architecture requirements.
•Recommending client server hardware and software requirements
•Recommending strategies and leading efforts to determine and achieve designated platform technology roadmaps.
Work closely with other Infrastructure technology groups as well as Enterprise Architecture groups and project managers to understand business objectives and system requirements.
Analyze functional requirements and architect state of the art, well integrated, and cost effective platform infrastructure solutions.
Ensure delivery of scalable client server infrastructure that is compatible with business needs across all applications and technology infrastructure.
Communicate highly technical aspects of client server architecture effectively in the business environment.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent.
• Master’s degree is desirable.
• Extensive qualifications in Mainframe, Midrange, and Client Server technologies, as well as Storage technologies, Networks and other applicable technologies.
• Broad range understanding of application architectures as well as infrastructure architecture.
• Operating Systems and applications – e.g. AIX , Microsoft, Linux, Enterprise Systems Management tools.
• Client/server – e.g.Windows, Linux, DB2, Oracle, AIX, UNIX, Internet, intranet.
• Virtualisation technologies – e.g.VMware, Zen, Virtuosso etc.
• Network – very good understanding of networking, e.g. Frame relay, routers, switches, Ethernet, token ring, SNA, TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, APPC/APPN, SNMP, SMB, IP, gateways, ATM, etc.
• WAN/LAN management suites.
