    Durban Development Talk

Is there any chance of a PHP and MySQL development talk being on the books for Durban, any time this year?  I have some friends that are interested too, but we can't seem to find anything.  Another thing was certification.  I know someone previously posted a thread on Zend courses in PMB, but are there any alternatives?

At the moment the answer is no. We will most likely be introducing something sometime next year, however there is still some discussions that need to be completed regarding this.

    Hi Willie,

thanks for the reply.  When you say that talks need be had regarding this, do you mean an open talk, or between those of you at SA Developer .NET?

While we on the subject of PHP, I have one question:  would you recommend learning PEAR?

    Thanks... Smile

    Hi Paul,

interesting question, and to tell you the truth I don't have very concise answers except for the fact their are many web servers running the amp combination, it's free both in monetry terms and that I can edit it if I wanted to, considering the whole, cheap OpenSource thing.

Otherwise, I just love the structure of it, and that it is interpreted meaning I don't struggle if I lose any source code.

When it comes to MS technologies, it is not that I hate them, it is just that I hafve chosen to develop in languages that are browser accomodating, unlike VBScript (which I was learning, but wouldn't work in my Mozilla Firefox).

I still use Windows XP Pro for my development platform, though I will eventually port over to Linux, but until then I can't leave the great MS boss man's work just because I don't admire certain aspects. He is a God among men as far as I am concerned.

    Hope that sums it up...

PS: on the friends question... no Tongue Tied only one.

He is my mate, and business partner, but other than that I have no friends, who are even interested in dev.

    Sad world man...

Interest of a subject is the first step towards achieving understanding of the subject. This is true of everything in life - and perhaps most true with regards to development.

I have a friend whom I used to work with that is a guru with PHP, MySQL. If you want resources and/or advice about either, he would be the man too speak to.

If you PM me, I'll be happy to pass his number on to you...

    Peace Out.
